Three Odisha women picked for World Junior Rowing

Rowing Federation of India has named a 14-member Indian squad, including three women from Odisha to represent the country in the World Junior Rowing Championships, scheduled to be held in Tokyo from 7 to 11 August, 2019. The squad consists of eight junior men, four junior women and two coaches.

The three Odisha rowers are: Deepika Xess, Ritu Kaudi and Sonali Swain. All three are inmates of SAI Watersports Centre, Jagatpur, Cuttack. In fact, five rowers of the Jagatpur Centre have been selected for the World Junior Championship.

Other two are: Shagandeep Singh (Punjab) and Mrunmayee Nilesh Salgaonkar (Maharashtra). Olympian and SAI rowing coach PT Paulose congratulated the rowers and wished them all success for the upcoming championship.

Junior Men Quadruple Scull:
Pratik Gupta (West Bengal), Shagandeep Singh (Punjab), Ashish Goliyan (Uttarakhand), Nitesh Bhardwaj (Madhya Pradesh).
Junior Men Coxless Four: Vijaypal Singh (Madhya Pradesh), G Tarun Krishna Prasad (Karnataka), Sanjay (Uttarakhand), Yogesh Kumar (Uttarakhand).
Junior Women Coxless Four: Deepika Xess (Odisha), Mrunmayee Nilesh Salgaonkar (Maharashtra), Ritu Kaudi (Odisha), Sonali Swain (Odisha).
Coaches: Jenil Krishnan (Arjuna Awardee, Senior Coach & Team leader, RFI), V Venkateswara Rao (Asst Coach, Telangana).
